An invisible robber works through the day and night, eating at companies' bottom lines. But few employers are aggressively defending themselves against the sticky-handed bandit--obesity.

While some companies in San Diego County have adopted wellness programs that include on-site gyms, healthier cafeteria food or discounts on diet programs, few, if any, track the cost of the national epidemic to their organization--a big mistake, say national and local experts whose data shows the obesity problem is not getting smaller and that the corporate sector bears much of the brunt.
