A WISCONSIN LEGISLATOR is trying once again to repeal the state's Smart Growth law. Rep. Mary Williams (R-Medford), chair of the Assembly Committee on Rural Development, said last week that while people in the southern part of the state generally support the law, that sentiment is not shared in the rural north. The law, enacted in 1999, encourages inter-government cooperation and public participation in the development of land-use plans.
