May 15--$2.9BN IWPP FOR JUBAIL: A dual purpose Independent Water and Power Plant is to be developed in Jubail at a cost of $2.9bn, reported Arab News. National and international companies have put in bids to Marafiq, the power and water utility company for Jubail and Yanbu, in order to win the tender. The new IWPP will be built in Jubail Industrial City by 2009 and will supply 2,700MW of electricity and 800,000 cubic metres of desalinated water every day.
