May 15--Fonar Corp. seems to be a perfect company for the 21st century.
Its founder is a winner of the prestigious National Medal of Technology; it is a pioneer in medical diagnostic equipment -- one of the hottest industries around these days -- and it holds a lot of important patents.
So why are Melville-based Fonar's sales generally sluggish, and why has the company been in the red for much of its history?
