ELKTON, Md. _ The field for Saturday's Preakness Stakes changes most days _ getting larger Monday _ but the two horses expected to give Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro the best race have been signed on from the start.
For Barbaro, Brother Derek and Sweetnorthernsaint, the mile and 3/16 trip around Pimlico Race Course will be along uncharted territory. They are the only three Kentucky Derby horses ticketed for the Preakness.
"You never know how a 3-year-old is going to come off a two-week layoff," Barbaro's trainer, Michael Matz, said Monday. "But we're all in the same boat."
