SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Avago Technologies, the world's largest privately held semiconductor company, today introduced the industry's fastest 3.3 V/5 V CMOS-compatible optocoupler, capable of transmitting data at 25 megabaud (MBd). This speed makes it ideal for high-speed, data-line transmission applications, such as those in industrial networking, including PROFIBUS and DeviceNet. These fieldbus networks, which interconnect sensors, actuators and controllers, typically need isolation at each interface location to increase data integrity and provide protection from power faults and ground-loop effects.
