May 16--Another player has entered the game in central Ohio's competitive banking market.
First Bexley Bank opened yesterday at 2680 E. Main St., becoming the second privately funded community bank to open in the Columbus area this month. Insight Bank, a commercial lender based in Delaware County, opened May 1.
Small community banks are a growing segment of the banking industry nationwide, said Bob Palmer, president and chief executive of the Community Bankers Association of Ohio.
Consolidation in the banking industry has contributed to the trend.
