19p - Aim - E-Pay Asia came to Aim in January via the reverse takeover of SkyNetGlobal, a struggling telecoms operator. And the SkyNetGlobal, E-Pay operates in the telecoms sector. But it's a far more attractive investment proposition.
Its core business is providing electronic top-ups for mobile phones. There's certainly a market for this, as in Asia, like Europe, the majority of mobiles are pre-pay rather than contract. Most of them are topped up using scratch cards bought from shops. However, this arrangement suits neither the operators (which have to deal with thousands of retailers), nor the retailers (who lose money if the cards are stolen).
