May 18--SAN FRANCISCO -- University of California regents today affirmed their support for embattled President Robert Dynes, saying he would keep his job despite his role in granting lucrative perks and benefits to top officials. Dynes smiled and nodded as regents and UC officials gave him a standing ovation following the announcement. "I'm obviously gratified by the support of the regents," Dynes told reporters after the decision. The announcement came a day after UC employees and state lawmakers reiterated their calls for Dynes' removal, and a day after Dynes blamed his subordinates of paranoia and secrecy surrounding hiring ...
