Still considered as the weak link in the whole chain of deregulation process for the domestic power industry, the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC) is helping shore up the competitive capacity of electric cooperatives as anticipated participants in the electricity pool market.

The capacity-building sessions are initially being undertaken with 71 electric cooperatives (ECs) for those which are located in Luzon and Visayas. PEMC is the duly-mandated operator of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.
