Washington Post writer Robin Givhan, known for her eminent fashion assessments with political commentary, recently won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for criticism in the journalism category.
Pulitzer board judges bestowed Givhan, 41, with the honor because of "her witty, closely observed essays that transform fashion criticism into cultural criticism."
The Detroit native began her journalism career as a general assignment reporter at the Detroit Free Press where she wrote about nightclubs and reviewed B-list movies for the entertainment section.
