Aged care clinical nurse Lyn Helbig has recently been registered as South Australia's first aged care nurse practitioner.
Nurse practitioners are a new development in aged care. Lyn Helbig hopes this opens the door for more nurse practitioner roles.
'I look forward to the day when a registered nurse practitioner will be available to every aged care facility, particularly those in the rural areas of Australia,' she said.
The Department of Health and Ageing is currently conducting an Australia-wide trial of the aged-care nurse practitioner role. Ms Helbig is participating in the trial through her work at Barossa Village in Nuriootpa where she has ...
