Inflation up 0.37 per cent

New Delhi, May 19 (PTI) Inflation was up 0.37 per cent to 3.96 per cent for the week ended May 6 as against 3.59 per cent in the previous week.

The rise in inflation is due to increase in prices of food articles like masur, bajra, fruits and milk.

However, the wholesale prices-based inflation remained static at 5.67 per cent during the same week previous year. The rise of inflation rate was relatively higher than the previous week. Going forward, analysts said it could see steep increase in case the Government decides to hike the price of petroleum products to offset surging global oil prices.
