Former state Sen. Nancy Larraine Hoffmann on Friday dropped her short-lived bid to become this fall's Republican candidate for state lieutenant governor, saying she felt her true calling was to continue working with her annual civil rights program for students.
Hoffmann said she talked with the two GOP rivals for the governor's race designation - former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld and former state Assembly Minority Leader John Faso - and told them she was no longer in the running for the state's No. 2 job.
Neither Weld's nor Faso's campaign Friday would say who they are considering for a running mate.
