Rich-SeaPak Corp. acquired WorldCatch in late March to expand its presence in the ready-to-cook and heat-and-serve seafood market. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The St. Simons Island, Ga., company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rich Products Corp. of Buffalo, markets a retail line of frozen value-added shrimp products under the SeaPak Shrimp Co. name.
The purchase of World-Catch "gives us a vehicle to grow beyond shrimp," says Jack Kilgore, president of Rich-SeaPak.
Finfish such as salmon, cod, flounder, tilapia and mahimahi represent half of WorldCatch's sales, says Kilgore.
