May 23--One of the region's oldest businesses will close its doors Wednesday after an auction of its remaining inventory.
Brenner's Carpets, 1600 Moseley St., will be selling everything from flooring to trucks, fork lifts and display cases beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Gerald Wedding of Alliance Real Estate and Auction said Monday.
"It's sad, after so long a time," Doris Brenner said of the 85-year-old flooring company founded by her father-in-law. "It becomes part of you."
In 1921, Sam Brenner and his new bride came from Guthrie to Calhoun to start a business.
Folks called it Brenner's On The Corner ...
