May 23--Carl M. Buchholz, 41, has been named managing partner and chief executive officer of Philadelphia-based law firm Blank Rome L.L.P. Buchholz replaces Fred Blume, who will become chairman emeritus on July 1. David Girard-diCarlo is chairman of the firm, which has 500 attorneys in offices around the United States. Buchholz started at the firm as an associate in 1993, and left it in 2001 to serve as special assistant to the president and executive secretary at the White Office of Homeland Security, working with then Director of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, Pennsylvania's former governor.
