Bolivia's newly elected government says it plans to have new exploration and production contracts with private companies signed "within the next few months," which once implemented will ensure Bolivia gets 50% of all oil and gas royalties.

On the sidelines of a meeting in Brazil Friday between Bolivian President-elect Evo Morales and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Morales' Vice President-elect Alvaro Garcia Linera said the new contract had been circulated to some of Bolivia's largest energy companies, including Brazil's state owned oil company Petrobras, Spain's Repsol YPF and Total of France.
