Though the Indonesia earthquake that killed more than 4,500 people last Saturday did not affect the country, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) yesterday appealed to the public to seriously participate in earthquake drills in schools, offices, and communities and to be aware of what to do in case of an earthquake.

"Dapat may evacuation plan and earthquake drill para hindi mag-panic (There should be an evacuation plan and earthquake drill to prevent panic)," said Phivolcs director Dr. Renato Solidum.
