US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said Friday there are no signs the global economy is suffering because of high oil prices, even as he urged producing nations to keep the market well supplied and encouraged greater domestic use of alternative fuels.

"I don't see signs the global economy is suffering in a major way today," said Bodman in a press briefing in Washington. The general view is the economy has done well with high oil prices, he said. "I think the issue is going to be how long the economy can continue to do well," he added.
