Our beloved father, Herman Robert Amberg, passed after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Herman was born February 10, 1920, in Frankfurt, Germany, and immigrated as an 8-year-old boy to the United States following the first world war. He graduated from East Syracuse High School in 1939, where he was known for his musical and academic skills as well as his ability on the hockey rink. Dad graduated from Syracuse University in 1943 with a B.S. in chemical engineering, where he first met the love of his life, Martha Jane Taylor (predeceased). As many of his generation did, he promptly enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific ...
