The Braithwaites were well into dinner when the question hit the deck: What should David do with the rest of his life?
At 43 , the graduate of Portsmouth's Churchland High School had "worked 47 different jobs," from construction to sales to a stint with the Virginia Pilot Association driving a 50-ton launch. Then, for 15 years, he wallowed in an ocean of paperwork as a financial aid officer at the family's business. When they sold it in 1999 , David had enough money to excuse him from the world of working stiffs.
