TOKYO, May 31 Asia Pulse - Japan's Clarion Co. (TSE:6796) is taking steps to standardize the basic structure and software for all of the car navigation systems it sells worldwide by 2008.

Working with major customer Xanavi Informatics Corp., the company will standardize the processor, operating system, route-search algorithms, support for different music-file formats and intra-car communications technologies for all of its car navigation systems.

These elements are presently designed separately for each customer, and in some cases the products need to be redesigned from the bottom up.
