My first garage was the best, partly because of the lilacs that bordered two sides and partly because it's the one I jumped off of one winter to prove that I was brave.
It was my father's garage, of course, not mine, and he said my leap from the roof and into an inadequate snowbank only proved that I was foolish, not brave. I did find that shovel he had been looking for, but since I was the one who had left it in the snowbank, I got no credit for locating it with my knee.
