CORN and soybean markets have moved in opposite directions since the U.S. Department of Agriculture's supply and demand report came out May 12, although trading ranges narrowed by early last week.
Even though the report didn't include any huge surprises, it made early estimates for use and production "official" and set off another round of speculation as to where the markets should be.
Fundamentally, the future corn market could be higher because of anticipated demand. Darrel Good of the University of Illinois noted that corn futures set new contract highs from September all the way through December 2008. There were also reports of corn producers already ...
