Article: FDA urges industry to change portions, marketing to battle obesity.

DALLAS _ Some diners and restaurant officials balked at the notion that consumers want to be saved from themselves after the government unveiled a report Friday urging the food service industry to help counteract the nation's obesity epidemic.

The report, commissioned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, looks at maladies associated with overeating and lists several recommendations that include reducing meal portions and limiting marketing that encourages larger portion sizes.
