Jun. 3--Afternoon thunderstorms tore through the Tucson area Friday, toppling power poles on the Southeast Side, sparking brush fires and creating blowing dust blamed for the death of one motorist on Interstate 10. Only trace amounts of rain were recorded in Tucson, and weather officials said more dry thunderstorms could sweep through the area this weekend. The storms, with their gusty winds and lightning, aren't expected to bring any significant moisture to ease the area's extremely dry conditions.
