LOS ANGELES -- Bloomingdale's might be Beverly Hills bound.
The New York-based retailer has intensified its search for a home in Beverly Hills during the last six months, amid increasing hype over Barneys New York's Beverly Hills store on Wilshire Boulevard -- set to open next spring.
Bloomingdale's executive have looked at several spaces in Beverly Hills, but the one most mentioned by real estate sources is the old Drexel Burnham building at Wilshire Blvd. This site would create a veritable super strip of big stores, pitting Bloomingdale's directly against the powerhouse Neiman Marcus unit, Saks Fifth Avenue, I.
