Jun. 5--When condor No. 377 stepped out of a dog kennel and onto a patch of dried grass high in the mountains overlooking Big Sur Sunday afternoon, she was about to receive an etiquette lesson from one of her own. After takeoff, one of more than 40 condors previously released in Big Sur by the Ventana Wildlife Society swooped down and took aim at the 1-year-old. "It's natural with a lot of animals, including birds, and in this case it was an adult condor basically welcoming the bird, but also letting her know that the adult is in charge," said Sal Lucido, cofounder of the Ventana Wildlife Society.
