MEXICO CITY -- Grupo Synkro S.A. de C.V. and a group of Mexican investors have agreed to acquire Kayser-Roth Corp. from Collins & Aikmen Group Inc.
The transaction, valued at $233 million, is believed to be the second largest Mexican acquisition of an American corporation, according to Grupo Synkro. The deal will be for cash and stock.
Combined sales of the two companies are about $600 million. Gruppo Synkro's sales in 1992 were $180 million, the firm said. Kayser-Roth did over $395 million in 1992 and is ranked second only to Sara Lee Corp. in hosiery volume.
