A NOWSLEY businessman who allegedly drove a Rolls-Royce and lived a champagne lifestyle appeared in court yesterday accused of falsely claiming more than pounds 50,000 in benefits.
Terence Pendleton, 44, and his family lived in a house with electric gates and peacocks in the garden in affluent Knowsley Village.
He enjoyed holidays in Florida and New York and owned an apartment in Gran Canaria, Liverpool Crown Court heard.
Despite Pendleton's apparent wealth, he claimed thousands of pounds in income support, housing benefit and disability benefits, and did not pay a penny of council tax, the prosecution said.
