XENIA, Ohio, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Instead of scrap tires becoming an eyesore and serious environmental problem, they can become an important fuel source benefiting the economy, says Michael J. Balchunas. 
Balchunas, president of Systech Environmental Corp. here, is involved in using them to that end at the Lafarge Corp. cement plant at Whitehall, Pa., where scrap tires are used in the kiln as a fuel supplement for coal.
