The season is only a little more than two months old, but already the Colorado Rockies have enjoyed unexpected peaks followed by disturbingly frustrating valleys.
So, with the team mired in a woeful hitting slump, it was only somewhat unbelievable that one of the smallest players in the game almost single-handedly lifted it out of its recent doldrums.
Infielder Jamey Carroll played far beyond his 5-foot-9 stature, providing the offensive and defensive highlights Tuesday night at Coors Field to help the Rockies to a 5-4 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
