Ceria Nanotubes Synthesized. Among nanotube materials, carbon nanotubes are currently the most actively researched. However Wei-Qiang Han and his colleagues at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) are in the midst of ongoing research into the structure and properties of inorganic cerium oxide nanotubes. Potentially they offer important applications as catalysts in vehicle emission-control systems and in fuel cells. BNL have recently devised a method to synthesize crystalline high quality cerium oxide nanotubes.
