Clinton L. Lee, a businessman who took a small boat company in St. Cloud and turned it into one of the leading boat manufacturers in Minnesota, died Friday of heart failure at his home in Lilydale. He was 75.

In 1982, Lee purchased St. Cloud-based Weeres Industries Corp., creator of the pontoon boat. It grew into Clearwater Marine.

Clint A. Lee of Roseville, a vice president at Clearwater, said his father made Clearwater a major player in the boating industry in Minnesota, employing about 300 people and recording annual sales of about $55 million while operating four companies in three states.
