Though Joan and Macon Brock Jr. founded the international Dollar Tree Stores Inc. and the multistate K&K Toys, their hearts are firmly rooted in Hampton Roads.
"We're very regional," said Joan Brock. "We live in Virginia Beach. We went to high school in Norfolk. My husband's office is in Chesapeake."
The couple recently donated $3.3 million to several programs at Virginia Wesleyan College, a liberal arts college that straddles the Norfolk-Virginia Beach line . In return, the college named the newest dorm complex after them.
