Jun. 8--Getting ready for her first trip to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Frances Koons had just the right mix of emotions -- a few nervous jitters, but mostly a joyful sense of anticipation.
"I'm so excited," she said Monday night. "Beyond belief."
Really, though, it's been that kind of season for Koons, a 2004 Central Catholic graduate and redshirt freshman on the Villanova track team.
In April, she fulfilled a dream by winning a championship in the distance-medley relay at the Penn Relays. Last month, she earned her first Big East Conference title in the 1,500-meter run with a ...
