Jun. 8--McALLEN -- Teretha Jones bought the Doberman pinscher puppy from Jesse's Pet Shop just before Thanksgiving.
Jones' 17-year-old daughter, Jessy, picked out the puppy and named him Slim. He was supposed to be her companion when she moves out of the home and gets an apartment.
But within a week, Slim fell ill with distemper.
By the time Christmas arrived, its condition had become so serious that Jones had no choice but to euthanize it.
