Jun. 9--The narrow winding road to one of the Bay Area's most popular vistas will be closed many days in the next six months during the first overhaul since its construction 70 years ago as part of a massive federal jobs program. Mt. Diablo State Park, which attracts some 500,000 visitors annually, will stay open during the work. But large sections of the park and its 3,840-foot summit will be inaccessible via car or bicycle on many weekdays during a $3.4 million road repair and paving project.
