HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. _ It was just last summer that Ensign George P. Smith seemed to be on top of the world, a winner at everything he tried.
The former Marina High School (Huntington Beach) football star with the chiseled good looks was enjoying his first year as a ``ringknocker'' _ a graduate of the prestigious U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.
