Nov. 30--A joint session between Arizona and Sonora lawmakers will be a historic first, and an opportunity for the states to try to make the most of free trade.
"If nothing else, it (the joint session) helps develop a working relationship with our counterparts in Sonora, Mexico," said Sen. Peter Rios, D-Dudleyville. "It puts a face to a name."
On Wednesday, members of the Arizona Legislature will meet in Phoenix with an expected 15 to 20 Sonoran legislators to discuss regional economic development, a proposed north-south trade corridor and issues involving public health, the environment and agriculture.
