It's been a century since a writer shocked the nation with his first-hand account of the Chicago meatpacking industry. Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" led to widespread changes in the industry that made food production safer. It took a second writer to make people think about their diets. Eric Schlosser, a correspondent for the Atlantic Monthly since 1996, published "Fast Food Nation" in 2001 and recently published a second book, aimed at preteens, titled "Chew on This: Everything You Don't Want to Know About Fast Food."
