With the increase in performance and image quality that is now becoming available from CMOS image sensors, new opportunities for the use of these new devices are presenting themselves in mainstream consumer markets--today still undisputed charge coupled device domains. And while the use of CMOS image sensors currently dominate designs for camera phones, the need for increasing features and performance in these devices are presenting new challenges.
