Jun. 13--The Akron Beacon Journal's soon-to-be owner says he hopes to "grow the business" to bring the newspaper's costs and revenue into line. David Black, owner of Canadian newspaper company Black Press Ltd., briefly discussed preliminary ideas Monday during a break from meeting with staff members. He's in town for three days in preparation for closing the purchase of the newspaper about June 27. Black Press is paying $165 million for the newspaper and its Web site, Ohio.com.
