Jun. 13--As the trial was about to begin Monday, McHenry County prosecutors stunned defense lawyers and even the judge by filing eight counts of reckless homicide against the driver of a tractor-trailer blamed for the five-vehicle pileup that killed eight Chicago-area women on the Northwest Tollway in 2003. "I certainly find it highly suspect after three years, now the state would decide to charge this defendant with reckless homicide," Circuit Judge Sharon Prather said.
