Jun. 12--If a movie director yells, "Action!" in the Rio Grande Valley, does anyone hear him? Marlon Brando heard it when he and Anthony Quinn starred in "Viva Zapata!," directed by Elia Kazan in Starr County in 1951. Big-name stars making films in the Valley may seem like an alien concept, but actually the Valley is not to filmmaking what water is to Mars. The Valley has been the site of several big studio silver screen productions featuring stars like Sally Field, Robert Mitchum, Tommy Lee Jones, Scott Glenn, Freddy Fender and Chuck Norris.
