The city of Geneva is the largest commune in the canton, with 180,000 people and a rich natural heritage that is impressive in an urban area. Even the visitor who isn't particularly green-minded can enjoy its 310 acres of parks, and the unusual canopy of trees that shade these public lands.
Geneva is the only place I know with genuine 'tree guidebooks', published by the Botanical Gardens about Left Bank parks, and featuring tree names in English along with drawings of rare specimens.
