This is the third in a series of histories published by the World Council of Churches; the previous two were finished in 1954 and 1970. It is a welcome addition to historical and ecumenical literature. Its comprehensiveness makes it both invaluable and yet extremely condensed, even in close to 700 pages. Its point of view is that of the World Council as it participates in ecumenical interaction, as one would expect. However, it gives significant treatment to other ecumenical developments, ...
