OSAKA, June 13 Asia Pulse - Japanese flat-panel television makers are boosting production in North America and Europe to tap the combined 48 million sets that are expected to be sold in these markets in 2007, six times higher than the sales projected for Japan that year.
Much of the production hikes are to be achieved by building or expanding plants and assembling more flat-panel TVs from LCD and plasma panels exported from Japan.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (TSE:6752) aims to spend about 5 billion yen (US$44 million) this fiscal year to expand the production capacities at its factories in Mexico and the Czech Republic. Once the projects are ...
