Dighton-Rehoboth scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth inning to edge New Bedford, 2-1, in the Division 1 South softball final last night at Taunton High School.
Meg Roy doubled to lead off the ninth and was sacrificed to third by Jen Gilbert. Roy then scored when Tricia Sullivan's pitch was high and off the glove of Whalers catcher Chelsea Sampson.
New Bedford took a 1-0 lead in the second on four straight walks, the last to Amanda Perry to force in Julia Changarlides.
